CAPE TOWN AND GARDEN ROUTE
Cape Town and the Garden Route is one of the greatest travel experiences without or without golf. The warmth of the welcome, outstanding food and wine, breathtaking scenery and vibrant culture make this a destination worth visiting in its own right. Add in beautiful hotels and exceptional golf courses, and you have the makings of a truly unforgettable golf journey.
Near Cape Town you have the sensational Pear Valley and Erinvale Estates both offering spectacular golf in a stunning mountain and vineyard scenery. Slightly further from the city you will find Arabella Golf estate which sits on the Bot River Lagoon, offering a calm scenic walk.
Further along the Garden Route near George, you have the clifftop challenge that is Pinnacle Point and the world-renowned Fancourt Golf Resort. Fancourt offers a trio of world class courses highlighted by The Links widely regarded as the best course in South Africa.
Off the fairways Cape Town offers an extraordinary mix of history, natural beauty and welcoming hospitality. Stand atop Table Mountain, explore renowned wine estates, and dine in some of the finest restaurants in the world, where fresh local ingredients and exceptional wines define the experience. Beyond the coast, unforgettable safari adventures await, with nearby game reserves offering the chance to witness Africa’s famous Big Five in their natural habitat. Combined, it creates a journey that is every bit as memorable away from the course as it is on it.

Steenberg Golf Club, set just south of Cape Town within the Steenberg Estate, is a beautifully conditioned Peter Matkovich design that sits naturally in its surroundings beneath the Silvermine Mountains. The setting is superb, but so too is the off-course experience, finish with a meal at Bistro Sixteen82 and a glass of the estate’s excellent wine.

The Links at Fancourt is the crown jewel of the estate and, for many, South Africa’s finest course. Opened in 2000, Gary Player transformed an unremarkable site into a superb links-style layout of great strategy and drama. Host of the 2003 Presidents Cup, it remains the highlight of any golfing trip to the Cape.

Pearl Valley is a superb Jack Nicklaus Signature Course set among the vineyards beneath the dramatic Drakenstein Mountains. Immaculately conditioned and wonderfully presented, it has hosted the South African Open on three occasions. With warm hospitality and excellent food in a beautifully positioned clubhouse, it offers a complete championship golf experience.

Set beside the Bot River Lagoon, Arabella is one of South Africa’s most scenic courses. Peter Matkovich’s design sits beautifully within the landscape, with many holes enjoying sweeping lagoon views. The conditioning is superb, but the setting can be distracting, keep an eye out for flamingos, blue cranes and, on occasion, whales offshore.
